Mutation: weaker reality manipulation
Joya is the Home Economics Teacher at Xavier's School. Quiet and gentle, she is best described as a dotting mom friend. She never has been a skilled fighter but she can play an important support role. Her mutation has scared her for a long time and from it she developed selective mutism. She owes it her observation skills, especially on a human scale.
Early Life:
She is a born Pennsylvanian, the only child of loving parents. She was quite the upbeat and extroverted child, but her mutation changed that and made her into a very closed off person for several years. She stayed confined to her home most of her early teenage years and passed time cooking, learning languages and house management with her mother.
Teen years and Mutation:
Joya is a limited reality manipulator, and does so through spoken language. Her parents got really scared when she manifested her powers at the age of 13, as they started off in a very chaotic fashion and heavily fluctuated in strength. Thankfully, she fuels her power with resolve and conviction, so unless she absolutely wishes to, she cannot bend reality. As she discovered her powers, she started closing in on herself and spent several months muting herself in fear of starting a catastrophe. When the powers became a problem each time she was talking, she went through many sessions with psychiatrists and psychologists to make sure she had upstanding morals, but her parents never liked it and sent her to Xavier School after a couple of months. She started talking again at the School, but stayed relatively quiet, preferring ASL or simply writing things out as a way of communication even as an adult.
Her powers stabilised after puberty, and trying to explore them let her understand that they are extremely limited in strength -the hugest the impact, the more unlikely she is to be able to perform it. It would be impossible for her to stop a hurricane in its tracks or stop a moving train for example, but she can summon a light rain or stop a car. Focus and adrenaline help her make bigger changes, but deplete her energy tenfold.
From her mutation stems her love of languages and linguistics -sometimes, other languages depict something better. However she never speaks them very well, since she never uses her voice much even with English.

Friendships
Clint Barton aka HAWKEYE (@PurpuraTacet): He's easily one of the people she feels the most comfortable around, given they both speak ASL. Sometimes they'll translate for each other (if Joya is too anxious or Clint's aids aren't working).
Romantic Partners
(please note that this is a MS account. There is and will be no cheating from Joya.)
Piotr Rasputin aka COLOSSUS (@heartcfsteel): Two absolutely soft persons. What can go wrong?
(Mainly, that they're too shy and tiptoe around each other for months on end.)
More coming soon!
